Dissociative Identity Disorder painting

Years ago I had a friend with Dissociative Identity Disorder, also called multiple personality disorder.

It's often a result of childhood trauma where the child forms alternative personalities that suppress intolerable memories or experience the abuse so that the main personality doesn't have to.
