My Arabic calligraphy teacher: Ehab Thabet

I’ve been in Palestine for a couple weeks to give a seminar on economic empowerment and to do some journalism and art for Mondoweiss and Middle East Eye. Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit my Arabic calligraphy teacher, Ehab Thabet in the pastoral village of Jifna in the West Bank. It’s been 9 years since I saw him. Ehab showed me some of his new work and I spent a lovely day with his family. Katie Miranda jewelry would not exist if it wasn’t for him! You can see more of his work in the rest of the photos. Find him on Instagram and Facebook
